Terre Des Hommes, the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit and the Bangladesh Civil Society Coordination Committee jointly organized a national consultation on youth in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 25th of July. Despite the security concern, a large participation from a diverse section of the society has made the event an engaging and thought-provoking platform for the diverse attendees and policy makers who joined the consultation.

On June 30th 2016, MADE and its MADE Americas partner INMD hosted a webinar to show how non-state actors could work together around the world to link the non-binding with the binding and the global to the local to oblige states to better protect migrants’ rights, sharing the experience of networks and the UN offices in Mexico.

On 16 July, a second draft of the Global Compact for Refugees was released by the co-facilitators of the Summit on Large Movements of Refugees and Migrants, Ireland and Jordan. It is expected that this Compact will accompany the Political Declaration from the Summit as an annex.

The civil society organizations involved in the HLS Action Committee have consolidated a first draft of their feedback to the zero-draft of the Outcome document prepared by the co-facilitators of the Summit, the Permanent Missions of Ireland and Jordan.

Civil society representatives may now apply to participate in the Civil Society programme of this year’s Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) and Common Space with Governments which will take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 8 – 10 December 2016.
