Evaluation of the MADE Pilot Fund on civil society collaboration with local governments in Honduras

Fundación Scalabrini undertook field visits in June 2016 to evaluate the impact of the advocacy efforts lead by CASM with their project “Gobiernos Locales Incorporando Acción de Prevención y Reinserción de Migrantes” (Local governments implementing actions for precaution of irregular migration and reintegration of returning migrants).

Taking Stock of Valletta: African and European Civil Society Consultation Initiative

MADE Asia - Summary of Activities 2016

MADE Asia coordinator MFA (Migrant Forum in Asia) always stands for the guiding principle: Migrants’ rights are human rights. MFA are constantly reminding international governments and employers that the rights of all migrant workers are guaranteed by the UN Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Convention on the Protection of Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families and other international conventions. 2016, there was still a lot to do along these lines and MFA has achieved some great successes.

Vacancy: Programme Manager West Africa

From early 2017 ICMC Europe, together with three partners AFFORD (Great Britain), FORIM (France) and Center for Migration Studies (Ghana), will start a 3 year EU funded programme ‘Migration and Development Partnerships for rights-based migration and mobility governance in, from and to West Africa’ to be implemented in coordination with the global MADE programme.

Flowers Campaign for International Migrants Day

The Flowers Campaign aims to pay homage to all the migrants that have died on the borders and in the seas, oceans and deserts of the world.  On this occasion, the West African Observatory on Migrations invites all citizens that support solidarity and justice to join us in paying homage to the migrants that have perished by throwing a flower into a stream, lagoon, river, sea or ocean.  To also honour the migrants that live near our homes, we invite you to participate by offering them a flower or the drawing of a flower as a token of your respect and solidarity.

“The Time for Action is upon us” - 2016 GFMD Civil Society Days Statement

Dhaka, 11 December 2016 – More than 200 representatives of civil society from over 50 countries, as well as representatives from governments and international organizations, gathered in Bangladesh this week to deliberate on action needed for inclusion, protection and empowerment of migrants, and the governance of migration.

A Dialogue on the Global Migration Compact unter the 9th GFMD Chairmanship

Civil society was invited to a dialogue on the Global Migration Compact on 14 November, held by the 2016 GFMD Chair, Bangladesh. During the event, Eva Sandis of the NGO Committee on Migration mentioned three key points that civil society call to be included in this Compact.
