Tenth African Development Forum

15 November 2016 to 17 November 2016

The Tenth African Development Forum will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on the theme, “Migration and Africa’s transformation”. The theme stems from the recognition of the central role of migration as an important enabler for inclusive and sustainable development premised on African-owned and African-driven developmental initiatives.

Regional meeting MADE Americas (GFMD satellite meeting)

En continuidad con el compromiso de fortalecer la convergencia y la colaboración entre las organizaciones de la sociedad civil de América del Sur y los Estados parte de la Conferencia Suramericana de Migración (CSM) y preparar su representación en el próximo Foro Mundial sobre Migración y Desarrollo (FMMD), la Red SIMN está promoviendo dos actividades específicas que anticipan la CSM y el FMMD, que se realizaran respetivamente en Asunción los 3 y 4 de noviembre y en Dhaka, Bangladesh del 8 al 12 de diciembre.

This side event aims to offer a space for candid reflections on the substantive elements and appropriate modalities for the development of the Global Compact. It will be open to all concerned stakeholders - Member States, international organizations, civil society and the business sector.

Augustinians International are organizing a satellite meeting to the GFMD on 18th of October in Abuja, Nigeria.

The 3rd Friends of the Forum Meeting for the Global Forum on Migration and Development 2016 will take place on 6 and 7 October 2016.

A satellite meeting of the GFMD Civil Society Days, organized by Terre des Hommes, took place the 30th of September and 1st of October in Cyprus.

UN High-level Summit

19 September 2016

On 19 September 2016 the UN General Assembly will host a high-level summit to address large movements of refugees and migrants, with the aim of bringing countries together behind a more humane and coordinated approach.

The self-organized civil society Action Committee for UN Summit has convened an open civil society meeting in New York City, on 18 September 2016, from 9.15 AM – 1.30 PM, the day before the UN High‐Level Summit for refugees and migrants.
