TRAININGS

In a second phase, the conclusions of the report were used as training materials to initiate joint actions that tackle identified policy and practice gaps in the implementation of the Free movement protocol.

CMS organized two trainings: one in Sierra Leone on December 7-8th 2017 and one in Ghana on January 11-12th 2018. The objective of those two day workshops was to promote intra-regional mobility within the ECOWAS region – by enhancing the capacity of participants to address the obstacles to the full implementation of the ECOWAS Free Movement Protocol in Sierra Leone and Ghana. More specifically, those trainings focused on the following objectives:

  1. Increase the knowledge of participants on regional integration, intra-regional migration and related concepts and their implications for development in West Africa
  2. Enhance participants’ understanding of the ECOWAS free movement protocol.
  3. Equip participants with the skills required to deal with various challenges associated with implementation of ECOWAS Free Movement Protocol
