28 January 2016 to 29 January 2016
The Migrants in Countries in Crisis (MICIC) Initiative Civil Society Consultations will be held on 28-29 January 2016 at the Permanent Mission of the United States of America to the United Nations and Other International Organizations.
The MICIC Initiative was launched in 2013 by the joint efforts of the United States and the Philippines. It represents a multi-stakeholder, state-led consultative process that aims to engage States and other stakeholders, including Civil Society, in non-binding, voluntary principles, guidelines and effective practices to better prepare for, respond to, and address the longer-term consequences of migrants in countries in crisis.
The objective of the consultation taking place at the end of January 2016 is to explore and discuss practices by Civil Society Organisations and to address Civil Society Organization’s needs from other actors to protect and assist migrants caught in crisis.
