Briefing on the MICIC Initiative

The briefing on the MICIC Initiative will take place at the United Nations in Geneva, Room XIX, on Thursday, 7 April 2016, from 10:00 until 12:00.   

The purpose of the briefing is to provide an update on the MICIC Initiative, which will develop by September 2016 non‐binding, voluntary principles, guidelines and practices to help states and others to better protect and assist migrants caught in countries experiencing conflict or a natural disaster. The panelists will review the government-led, open and inclusive MICIC consultation process, as well as the connections between the MICIC Initiative and other key events on migration in 2016, including the 19 September UN General Assembly High Level Plenary Meeting on Addressing Large Movements of Refugees and Migrants.
