5th Diaspora Development Dialogue (DDD5) ‘Actions Needed to Reduce Remittance Costs in Africa’

ADEPT’s Fifth Diaspora Development Dialogue (DDD5) will take place in Nairobi, Kenya on 28 July 2016 and will focus on: ‘Actions Needed to Reduce Remittance Costs in Africa’. DDD5 is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya and the African Institute for Remittances (AIR).

DDDs form an important part of ADEPT‘s service delivery framework, bringing together African Diaspora-Development Organizations (ADDOs), governments, civil society organizations, the private sector and other development stakeholders, to work on practical means of improving diaspora interventions in African development.

For 15 years, the African diaspora has been persistent and methodical in advocating, innovating and bringing into practice independent schemes and ventures to reduce transaction costs and enhance the development benefits of remittances. Along with the AIR and the Kenyan Government, ADEPT has dedicated DDD5 as a platform to find real solutions to reach the SDG Target 10.c of reducing the cost of remittances to less than 3 % by 2020.
