MADE WEST AFRICA PILOT FUNDS

 

The MADE West Africa program has offered small grants to local civil society organizations in five target countries of the program namely Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea, Senegal and Sierra Leone in order to encourage actions that could support the three objectives of the project. 

With these, selected civil society organizations are supporting advocacy or practical activities in the target countries. 

The following organisations were selected: 
 

  • DIADEM, Senegal 
    • awareness raising campaign on the risks of irregular migration and the rights of migrants in the region of Saint Louis (Senegal) and advocacy activities towards the Senegalese government on regulating labour migration.

  • Coordination des Associations Burkinabè de Côte d'Ivoire (Coordination of Burkinabe Associations of Ivory Coast)
    • organisation of thematic workshop on the investment of the Burkinabè diaspora "Which incentive approach for a massive investment of the Burkinabè diaspora?" held in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) in January 2019. 

       

  • Future of Ghana 
    • creation of two-days diaspora and entrepreneurship forum in Accra which will convene second generation diaspora representatives, Ghanaian entrepreneurs and government officials. 

      On the 6th June in Accra, 73 people attended the Future of Ghana-organised forum discussing, learning & developing innovative ways of how Ghanaian's Aboard can support the growth and job creation for startups /SGO's in Ghana from a local perspective. On June 7th, Future of Ghana provided 56 people with capacity building training - led by skilled Ghanaians living outside Ghana. As a result, 26 participants have already been shortlisted for job opportunities and two participants mentorship. The forum and workshops featured at 7pm on Metro News TV in Ghana.

  • The Human right defenders Network, Sierra Leone 
    • T​he objective of the project to implement: popularisation of the ECOWAS Free Movement Protocol in Sierra Leone through awareness raising campaing, increasing public knowledge of the protocol by engaging policy makers, stakeholders and community groups.

       

  •  Media Network on Migration (MENOM), Ghana
    •  T​he objective of the project to implement: Twofold project including: 1. Public education programmes using the national media stations and community outreach programs on the ECOWAS Free Movement Protocol for journalist and civil society organisations; 2. Sensitisation programme for border official, travellers and community members on the ECOWAS protocol.
