Global Conference on Children on the Move (Berlin)

The Global Conference on Children on the Move will provide a space for diverse stakeholders – including representatives from governments, civil society, multilateral institutions and the private sector – to discuss and advocate for a strong global strategy on protecting the rights of children on the move and other children affected by migration. In particular, the conference will aim to:

  • Demonstrate the benefits of collective action in achieving clear positive outcomes for children on the move.
  • Assess progress on and develop a strategy to accelerate the implementation of existing commitments related to children on the move.
  • Explore the future for harmonious societies.

35th Human Rights Council Session (Geneva)

*Panel on the human rights of unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          *Special Rapporteur on the human rights of migrants will present his report on migration, to be followed by an interactive dialogue.                                                                                                                                                                                                  *Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance will present his report on the main thematic issues covered by the mandate, as well as an overview of racism, racial discrimination and xenophobia in the context of counter-terrorism. To this end, the SR's mandate will organise an EGM in June 2017 to collect inputs on racism, racial discrimination and xenophobia in the context of counter-terrorism measures.

70th World Health Assembly

The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board. The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget. The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland.
